The issues I was having with my blog appear to be solved. Since a more recent commit something fundamentally incompatible with the older version of Hugo (a non extended one) came up.

In order to upgrade to a recent hugo_extended I also had to upgrade the VM to a more recent version, but now it’s looking fine, at least for me. :)
